Our Story
How We Started

What Makes Us Different in How We Teach
We don’t see a diagnosis; we see a discovery waiting to happen.
- Our Teaching Philosophy We are a special needs school that focuses on Individualized growth, ensuring that no child is lost in the system.
- Multisensory Engagement We move beyond textbooks by integrating sight, sound, touch, and movement into every lesson, ensuring that complex concepts are accessible to every type of learner.
- Adaptive Milestone Tracking Instead of following a rigid, age-based curriculum, we design flexible learning paths that celebrate progress based on each child's specific abilities and personal growth.
- Integrated Therapeutic Learning We weave social-emotional support and physical development directly into the school day, making growth a natural part of every activity rather than a separate session.

Bernice JacquesProgram Director
I am a mother with an adult son with autism. After returning home from living abroad, I realized that there were no programs or schools in our community for my son to socialize or interact with peers. There were no recreational, or training programs in place that could help him learn to participate in his community. In addition to my son, there were other young adults and children in the Sangre Grande area, with special needs who were isolated, not participating in a program or school situation.

I, Shyan Johnson, started working at the OSANA Foundation in January 2023. Before joining the team, I earned qualifications in English, Agricultural Science, and Art and Craft, which have helped shape my skills and creativity. I also have hands-on experience as a babysitter and domestic worker, which taught me patience, responsibility, and care. In 2018, I became certified in paper jewelry craft, and earlier on, I participated in the Carnival Arts and Life Skills Vacation Camp held on August 23, 2013, which helped develop my artistic and interpersonal skills even further

Growing up as a child, I have always wanted to be a nurse. However, life had a different plan for me. Somehow I developed the need to care for young children, so much so that I sometimes refer to it as my calling. Not special needs children specifically, but children. Nevertheless, when applied to be an instructor for the kids at Osana, I never thought it will be this fulfilling.
